"Having no experience with landscape design for a new home, I gave Arnold Leavitt little direction for my project except to preserve and enhance as much of the property's natural beauty and views as possible and to address potentially serious drainage issues resulting form the clearing of a very densely wooded home site.

Arnold designed and produced: a gorgeous backyard of grass and birch trees with gardens and rough hewn stone under each grouping of trees; 115 Ragusa rose bushes along the water front; a 1/8 acre island of plants, flowers and trees with a circular drive in front of the house; four sets of tiered walls to give access to the back deck; and bricked walkways and a patio. All of this was accomplished while at the same time anticipating and solving serious drainage problems.

Leavitt's Lawn Care and Landscaping Ltd. were mowing our lawn and providing emergency weeding for us for several years before we decided to redesign and simplify an overgrown and very public 45 foot square garden.  The following paragraph describes the work they undertook in May, 2007, and completed in two weeks and a day.

All the perennials were removed and healed in elsewhere.  While one crew dug to the footing of our house, installed new drain tile and back-filled with crushed rock thus drying a previously wet basement, another crew created a courtyard featuring curved concrete block walls, a circular paving stone patio and brick-edged serpentine flower beds.  The original flowers were then replanted and surrounded with mulch. 

The work started on time and finished early and the charges were fair.  While we designed the new garden ourselves, Mr. Leavitt's suggestions improved that design significantly. 

We now have a garden that is easier to maintain, that enhances a view from Water Street of St. Andrews Harbour, that is wheel chair accessible and that has a discrete off-the-street parking area.   The compliments it is receiving are due to the skill and expertise of this professional landscaping company.
